Get swept away by Boat Poet Dauda Ladejobi's The River Princess

Talent development programme Boat Poets was back with a splash this year as six young emerging poets and spoken word artists embarked on paid residencies on boats, barges and ferries on their local waterway to discover the living and working communities that reside there.

London Boat Poet Dauda Ladejobi is a poet, actor, and rapper from Barking and Dagenham. He's a winner of the Tony Tokunbo Fernandez Poetry Prize, a natural MC and poet. His creative journey started with Studio 3 Arts, another creative hub in Barking, with youth led projects in which dance, music and acting are used to express and tackle issues in the local area. His work aims to highlight the wider issues and social constructs that affect us all.

He completed his residency in Barking and Dagenham where he grew up and at Cody Dock in Newham where he found inspiration for his poem The River Princess. Cody Dock is a thriving creative and community hub on the River Lea, former rubbish dump turned into a beautiful oasis of calm. Watch him perform the poem below...
