Bankside STEWards would like to invite you to join them at Firing on the Foreshore on Saturday 13 September. Pots made from Thames river clay will be fired in two bonfires constructed on the foreshore from Thames driftwood - an ancient London tradition going back more than 5,000 years. Warning: watching the rising tide slowly douse the fires can be strangely hypnotic!
Thames Finds Display: Come and join us on the river steps in front of the Globe Theatre where there will be a display of Thames finds for you to look at from 12 noon to 6pm. Hear all about the witch bottles, the clay pipes and Bankside pottery, and see what people ate in the past.
Free Archaeological Walk - 1.30pm. Discover 10,000 years of history beneath your feet! Join Thames Archaeologist Dr Fiona Haughey in exploring the Bankside foreshore. Free, bookings not necessary.
