St Thomas' Hospital is famous for its riverside location opposite the Houses of Parliament, however the decision to relocate the hospital to its current site in 1870 was controversial, with Florence Nightingale herself feeling that the new location was far too close to the Thames to be sanitary.

This short talk will explore Florence Nightingale's involvement with the design of the new St Thomas' Hospital and look at how the hospital's relationship with the river has changed over the past 150 years.
