Let Footprints of London show you Hammersmith’s delightful riverside which is one of the loveliest stretches of the Thames in London.

Have a pleasant stroll along the delightful riverside at Hammersmith with Stephen, an expert Footprints of London guide. This is one of the loveliest stretches of riverside in London and it is full of fascinating stories.

We will see the bridge that Irish Republicans tried to blow up three times, pass the pub where the words of Rule Britannia were written and go on to hear about the man who sent up the absurdities of English law in a series of humorous stories.

We see the homes of two important creative talents: Edward Johnston who developed the type face which is synonymous with London. And we see where designer, writer and social activist, William Morris lived which also happens to be where the world's first electric telegraph was set up in 1816.

We will pass a number of delightful Riverside pubs which you may wish to revisit at your leisure later and we end in Chiswick, not only home to London’s last remaining major brewery but also the location of a magnificent Palladian Country House and a lovely church where local resident artist William Hogarth is buried.
