The Jubilee Sailing Trust, working in partnership with the Army Cadet Force and several specially selected charities to embark on the Lord Dannatt Round Britain Challenge in commemoration of the 100 years since the end of the First World War. This a poignant and high-profile event which also coincides with the Jubilee Sailing Trust’s 40th anniversary and to mark the occasion we will be using one of two the prestigious, specially adapted tall ships in the world and owned by the Jubilee Sailing Trust, STS Lord Nelson.

The ship will sail with a crew of 144 cadets alongside wounded, injured and sick veterans with the 145th crew member being a Tommy silhouette kindly donated by the charity TBNT, around the capitals of the United Kingdom.

The challenge will culminate with a return to the Thames, passing through the finish line Tower Bridge for two spectacular bridge lifts before finishing at the HMS president. On this final leg of the voyage the crew will be joined by several VIPs.

There will be bugler’s performing from the towers on Tower Bridge to welcome Lord Nelson and crew back into port. A military band performance will take place at HMS President either on the balcony or aboard the ship, so don't miss the chance to view this spectacle along multiple vantage points along the Thames.

The Lord Nelson's route is as follows:

  • 2.15pm - Gravesend/Tilbury
  • 4:30pm - Thames Barrier
  • 4:35pm - O2 Arena
  • 4:50pm - Greenwich Reach
  • 5:15pm - Limehouse Reach
  • 5:30pm - Through Tower Bridge westbound
  • 6pm - Through Tower Bridge eastbound: Finish Line
  • 6:15pm - Berth at HMS president

Jubilee Sailing Trust and Army Cadet Force are delighted to be working in partnership with the following charities and would like to thank them for their involvement with this exciting challenge:

  • Endeavour Fund
  • RBLI
  • Poppy Factory
