Director-violinist Peter Fisher and the Chamber Ensemble of London invite you to sail down the Thames in this celebration of London’s river featuring baroque, classical, light music, folk and jazz pieces for string orchestra.

Handel’s Water Music marks the progress of George I from Whitehall to Chelsea. There is a Boyce symphony for the Rotunda at Ranelagh Gardens, which was the O2 Arena of the eighteenth century. Sullivan’s ‘Yeomen’ guard the Tower. Pass Westminster with Farnon’s famous Waltz, St Paul’s with Holst’s Suite. Dance The Lambeth Walk. The rowers of Eton, the bridges of yesteryear and the shiny new towers of London feature in Clive Jenkins’ new compositions. There is folk fiddle in London River. And - more baroque - a suite by John Eccles, famous for being the longest-serving Master of the King’s Musicke and for fishing the river at Kingston. At the end – the anthem, Old Father Thames. Sing if you wish!
