As part of the Totally Thames festival, the Steve Faldo and Dave Pope Barge Races will involve a number of Thames barges being raced under oars on the river between Westminster Bridge and Tower Bridge.

Held annually in memory of Steve Faldo and Dave Pope, Thames Waterman and Lightermen who lost their lives on the Thames, and to commemorate the skills of the Traditional Lightermen who moved freight along the Thames up until the 1930's. These races are an awesome feat of strength and technique. Head to the river to support the modern day Lightermen as they row their 30-tonne unpowered barges along the Thames.

Sponsored by Capital Pleasure Boats Ltd, who provide a boat free of charge to follow the race and host the prize giving. All profits from ticket sales go to charity.
