Engineering and Politics. Two areas where women have been traditionally under-represented. But how are they linked together, and how did the women who campaigned so vociferously for the vote in 1918 go on to empower women to work in engineering and technical roles over the next 100 years?

Taking place in and around the Institution of Engineering and Technology on the north bank of the Thames adjacent to Waterloo Bridge will give visitors a chance to explore the building and the linked histories of the Women’s Engineering Society housed in the IET archive and the histories we have uncovered.

Join an inspiring a day of activities, workshops and talks to mark the Year of Engineering and the Centenary of the Representation of the People Act highlighting the achievements and resilience of women in non-traditional careers such as engineering and politics.

The Amy’s Planes Workshop should be booked in advance here.
