This walk explores the uppermost tidal Thames. Starting from the imposing lock complex at Teddington, we take in a number of stately riverside homes and an island where the Rolling Stones once partied! Then we climb a hill where Turner painted, to admire one of the most beautiful views in London – one of the first to be legally protected. Weather permitting, we may enjoy a drink with the view before continuing to hear how an uncooperative landowner has inconvenienced those crossing Richmond Bridge since 1777. We then glimpse the observatory where George III watched a transit of Venus and finish at the last downstream lock on the Thames.
