The Thames was London's main transport hub and Watermen used to transfer passengers across London on the Thames and were as important to the capital as the underground is today. Lightermen transferred goods between ships and quays in the Port of London ensuring supplies reached the shore. To record their memories and stories, digital:works worked with children from St George The Martyr and Westminster Cathedral primary schools in London to make the film Tales from the Thames. The children went on a boat trip where they met the Thames Lightermen and Watermen to film and record the interviews.

This special film screening will take place at the historic Watermen's Hall followed by questions and answers with Thames Lightermen.

Presented by the Thames Estuary Partnership
