Together, we'll help complete this missing section using oral testimonies from Thames watermen and lightermen, the river's expert navigators who carried London's cargo and passengers. Visitors are invited to listen to river stories, share their own memories, and contribute to a growing collaborative map using research materials and art supplies.
Explore sample jars of cargo—from tea and spices to oranges and bones, linked to the docks where lightermen worked, revealing the global journeys hidden within the Thames.
Through storytelling, mapping and conversation, TIDAL TALES brings the history of the working river into the present, revealing the Thames as the living heart of London and its enduring connection to the wider world.
