#ThamesRising: A call-out for London's 18-25 year olds
The Thames Festival Trust is pleased to announce a new opportunity for 18-25 year olds to be part of a panel of passionate and proactive young Londoners who want to work with us during the build up to Totally Thames, our month long celebration of the River Thames in September.
The River Thames holds the story of how London came to be one of the most culturally rich and diverse places on the planet. In 2018 the River Thames is internationally recognised, the centre of working life for thousands of people, tourism and industry. But what is the experience of the River Thames and young Londoners...
- Curious about the Thames?
- Want to gain skills, experience and access to an arts organisation?
- Come and generate new voices of the River Thames…
#ThamesRising will bring a group of young Londoners together on a monthly basis from mid-June until November. You must be able to commit to monthly sessions to be held every second Wednesday of the month kicking-off with an introductory session on Wednesday 13 June, 6.30pm. We will cover travel expenses of up to £7 per session. So if you’re interested in a career in the arts, want to gain communications and digital skills or just want to get on the river and discover the city from a new perspective - we want to hear from you.
What you will gain
- Find out how an arts and cultural organisation works
- Learn more about and get onto the River Thames
- Work alongside Arts and Cultural professionals
- 1:1 mentoring to help your professional development
- Hands-on marketing experience
- Behind the scenes access to events
- Work with a team of like-minded young people
- Chance to be immersed in Totally Thames’s programme
- Networking opportunities
So whether you hail from North of the river, South of the river or nowhere near the river - meet us halfway and join us by the Thames.
Robbie Wojciechowski on his internship:
"In my role, I worked closely on bringing together the festival and its creative projects. I helped manage an arts residency opportunity, got involved with giving workshops, and met so many interesting people, from archaeologists to floating communities, who were all passionate about the river.
It helped me explore more about the kind of pathway I'd like to take in my creative development, and built a supportive environment for this to happen, with a team who seemed genuinely interested in helping me move forward. There are few organisations, like the Thames Festival Trust, who have London's heritage and creative development at the very heart of their work."
How to apply
