Rock royalty to French nobility, artisan boat builders to self-taught inventors, colourful entrepreneurs to famous authors - all have at some point found themselves on Eel Pie Island. Come and discover London’s largest inhabited island, with a curated tour of its museum and a guided walk.
The Eel Pie Island Museum celebrates all that has made this little island so famous - from its boatyard heritage that continues to this day to the part the Eel Pie Hotel played in the British Blues explosion of 1960s, launching the careers of such superstars as The Rolling Stones, Eric Clapton and Rod Stewart.
The tour will start with a curated visit to the museum, and then walk along Twickenham’s embankment with extensive views of Eel Pie Island and its boatyards.
After the Embankment tour, visitors will be free to explore the island’s public paths and/or return to the Museum to continue their visit.
