Walks start at 11.45am or 1pm, with a short introduction from Dr. Fiona Haughey followed by a 1hr walk

Come and see for yourself Hammersmith’s changing waterfront which gives an intriguing glimpse into life over the past few centuries on and by the Thames including the connection with the slave trade as well as the BBC along with the changes we can see in the wildlife.

Come and search the river walls for evidence of Hammersmith’s changing waterfront. Since the 19th century, Hammersmith has been home to a distillery, sugar refinery, lamp factory and water pump factory as well as connections with the African slave trade so look for evidence that tell us about these Victorian industries on the river bank and the people who worked and lived there including a member of royalty. Take a stroll with Dr Fiona Haughey and discover the importance of the foreshore and the river walls for the continued survival of Thames complex wildlife.

Essential Info

Please note that this walk is not suitable for those with mobility difficulties as the foreshore is uneven and has areas of mud.
Please wear sturdy suitable footwear such as walking boots
Suitable for those aged 12 and above
