Hear about the wide range of merchants and mariners active in the 18th century on the north bank of the Thames, in the parishes of Shadwell and Wapping, and the now-forgotten hamlet of Ratcliff. These men and women are now regarded as a vibrant community essential to the servicing of London's residents, the Merchant and Royal Navies and international trading connections to Africa, India, China and the West Indies.
