Hands on History: Cousin Lane Foreshore Walk

Cousin lane foreshore is a place where echoes of the far and more recent past history are writ large wherever you look.

The foreshore at the base of Cousin lane demonstrates the earlier presence of a great trading force that dominated northern Europe from the 13th to 15th century - not British however! Traces of this on land in this area are scarce but relics are scattered still on the foreshore in spite of the powerful Thames current. However, the history of this foreshore begins much earlier than this and continues to this day. Explore this long story with Thames archaeologist Dr Fiona Haughey.

Essential Information

Please note that this walk is not suitable for those with mobility difficulties as the foreshore is uneven, access is via stairs, and has areas of mud.

Please wear sturdy suitable footwear such as walking boots or wellies.

Suitable for those aged 10 and above.

No unaccompanied children.
