Hands on History: Hammersmith Foreshore Walk

Explore the Hammersmith foreshore which shows evidence of human activities of both pleasant and unpleasant nature - think Dr Who and slavery.

9:45am - 12pm

Hammersmith & Fullham

Join archaeologist Dr Fiona Haughey on the Thames foreshore at Hammersmith and see the evidence left by earlier users of the river. Hear too about banished royalty that lived nearby and also see the evidence found of the trading for slaves. The more recent denizens who utilised the location to provide entertainment and food have also left their mark and detritus on the foreshore.

Essential Information

Please note that this walk is not suitable for those with mobility difficulties as the foreshore is uneven, access is via stairs and has areas of mud.

Please wear sturdy suitable footwear such as walking boots or wellies.

Suitable for those aged 10 and above.

No unaccompanied children.
