Winners of the 2016 Royal Over-Seas League Strings/Keyboard Ensemble Prize, the London based Consone Quartet is dedicated to exploring and recreating the sound-worlds of the classical and early romantic string quartet repertoire through period instrument performance.

Nestled on the banks of the Danube river, Vienna has long been a centre for cultural development in Europe. Many great musical luminaries lived and worked there, including Franz Schubert and Josef Haydn. The music of these two composers has been closely associated with the term Sturm und Drang, meaning Storm and Stress. The Sturm und Drang literary movement of the late eighteenth century was pioneered by eminent writers including Goethe and Schiller, both of whom had a profound effect on the young Schubert.

The Consone Quartet will perform works by Haydn and Schubert.
