For 5 days, you can discover how RNLI lifeboat stations have evolved from the simple boathouses of the 19th century to today's world-class lifesaving facilities. With archival artwork from the RNLI’s collection, and a short film, this exhibition explores our innovation in design, construction and lifesaving operations. Learn how, even in the 1880s, RNLI boathouses were built to consistent standards – creating iconic and resilient buildings to support the crews. And how there are many former lifeboat stations still standing today, serving new roles within their communities.
