Blending live performance, music and documentary testimony, the work draws on conversations with former intensive care patients, loved ones, clinicians and researchers, interwoven with Greek mythology and newly arranged music from Handel's Alceste. Together these voices tell extraordinary stories of survival, memory, delirium, grief and return, exploring what it means to be given a second chance at life.
Following the performance, audiences receive access to the complete five-part audio pilgrimage, allowing them to continue the journey in their own time along the Thames between St Thomas' and Guy's Hospitals - or wherever they choose to listen.
