Commissioned for Totally Thames festival 2026, Turning the Tide is a major film and projection piece by the Turner Prize-nominated artist Catherine Yass. It celebrates and makes visible Deaf/deaf and disabled people who are often marginalised in public space. The project has been created in partnership with disabled-led theatre company Graeae.
There will be stewards, volunteers and access support workers ready to welcome all audience members on the bridge. Detailed information on viewing areas, access and suggested routes along with an easy access guide are available via the QR codes.
Turning the Tide has recently been awarded the prestigious Art Explora - Académie des beaux-arts European Award, the leading European Award championing new dialogues between the arts and audiences. It was developed in partnership with the City of London Corporation’s Culture Team and is funded by the City Corporation's Community Infrastructure Levy Neighbourhood Fund and the National Lottery through Arts Council England.
