Ten primary schools and five secondary schools participated in River of Hope activities which have included teacher CPD, hands on river visits with the Tees Rivers Trust & the Canal and Rivers Trust and artist led workshops. Together with their teachers, children have created river inspired artworks under the guidance of BloomInArt. They have used fused glass, printmaking, wet feltmaking and wire willow work to create their artworks.
The secondary schools also worked with poet Carmen Marcus to produce poetry which reflects their views on climate change and the threats to their local river.
Schools have been partnered with counterparts in Ethiopia who have also created fabulous artworks.
The project culminated in 80 individual visual designs, paired with original audio, resulting in a captivating immersive experience for festival audiences, bringing the sights, sounds, and stories of the River Tees to life in an unforgettable way.
