A weekend of lively sessions taking an alternative look at the Thames. Join Team Londonist and friends aboard HMS President for riverine geekery, facting, folklore, immersion, floatation, history, stories and songs.

Saturday 20 September

Lost Rivers
11am - 12.30pm - Two of London's foremost lost river fanatics, Tom Chivers and Tom Bolton, delve into the hidden histories of London's streams.

Swimming the Thames: Then & Now
1pm - 2.15pm - Find out how the Victorians swam the Thames and learn about exciting plans to reintroduce swimming in the tidal Thames.

Thames Oddities
2.30pm - 4pm - Two London obsessives go fishing in the Thames for unusual, evocative and poignant tales from the river's past.


Sunday 21 September


Myths and Mysteries of the Thames
11am - 12.30pm - What’s lurking in the water? Discover pagan Thames rituals, sacred rites, magic, myths, urban legends and monsters.

Stories from the Docks
1.30pm - 3pm - A lively look at the rise, fall and rebirth of London's docks from ancient history through roaring trade to modern redevelopment.

A Trip down the Thames in Story and Song
3.30pm - 5pm - Sea shanties, comedies, music hall songs and folklore! An atmospheric family-friendly voyage with London Dreamtime.
