Kew Bridge Pumping Station supplied water to homes and businesses across London from as early as 1838. The original five Victorian pumping engines that once pumped water, first directly then filtered, from the Thames to London households can still be seen in situ today, in their grade one listed buildings. Discover the fascinating history of the waterworks and find out why the river was so important in the story of London's water supply.
