Roman London was founded on the banks of the Thames to take advantage of the tidal river for traffic, trade and communications.
In this Gresham College guest lecture, Archaeologist Gustav Milne will talk about the series of archaeological excavations from 1973 onwards that revealed the ancient Roman harbour in London, often where it was least expected.
His lecture will touch on discoveries of Roman vessels at County Hall, in Southwark and at Blackfriars; and questions about the location and look of the original London Bridge.
