Erith Lighthouse: a summer season of food and events by the Erith riverfront.
This summer London’s second lighthouse is coming to Erith riverfront. An extraordinary Thames-side structure with stunning views of the River Thames is giving space to a new dining and contemporary community experience in South-East London.
Containing a compact kitchen and dining room, Erith Lighthouse will host a series of special dinners and events this summer. Inspired by Erith’s unique riverside location on the border of London and Kent, menus will respond to the area’s agricultural heritage, its proximity to Kent, the “Garden of England" and its abundance of allotments, fruit growing and hop gardens.
By combining food and architecture, this project is bringing community activity to Erith’s riverside. A six week programme of events across July and September has been produced in collaboration with local partners such as The Exchange, Erith Library, Erith Yacht Club and Erith Playhouse as well as the Totally Thames Festival to explore and celebrate Erith’s very unique London setting and untapped potential.
Erith Lighthouse is commissioned by the London Borough of Bexley and funded by the Mayor of London's Regeneration Fund as part of Bexley's Greater Erith Programme that is aimed at reactivating the town centre and making the most of Erith's unique setting by the River Thames. It has been devised and programmed on their behalf by DK-CM and The Decorators.
