Kayaking on the Thames is a unique experience open to people from every walk of life. Each trip is different; we’ve seen foxes fishing, Heron’s contemplating life, voles building nests, seal diving and parakeets screeching. The Thames is an amazing place to relax after work, taking each of us into a totally different world. As a club, we don’t see to make profit, we work together for everyone’s benefit and all really enjoy sharing our passion with new members, or people wanting to have a go.

CKC sea kayak club, based at Kew Bridge will run a day of taster sessions – interactive on the Thames – starting from Kew Bridge. These will be suitable for any adult:

- wanting to try paddling in a sea kayak, (which are very stable and comfortable long kayaks)

- wanting to kayak on the beautiful stretch of river by Kew when its at its easy/safest with no tide to contend with. (For one day a year the Thames Barrier is shut and the Thames is tide free)

Each session will be a gentle, sociable, paddle on the sunny Thames, enjoying the wildlife and landscape of Kew from the river. No-one will be asked to capsize!

Difficulty: Easy, all instruction and kit provided

Bring: A set of clothes that could get wet, closed shoes, a sun hat and a warm fleece, together with any medication you need.

Accessibility: You must be able to swim 25m, and with sufficient mobility to get in/out of a kayak on the Kew bridge beach.
