Until the 20th century the River Roding was the super highway of Barking Town. Fishing vessels jostled with barges loaded with cabbages, human excrement and even dead dogs and cats. The river banks became lined with factories, with everything from malt houses to jute works, chemical stores to gas works. Join local historian Mark Watson for a fascinating tour of the lost industrial age of Barking Town.
