Artist Ione Maria Rojas worked alongside staff and children from Devon and Cornwall primary schools. Working with the lead year groups she led a series of outdoor learning activities by their local waterfronts, including some nature-based mindfulness, drawing and wildlife ID in order to give students inspiration and information for making their final art piece. These built on the natural ink techniques and wildlife themes they worked on in the previous year.

Young people from five Devon secondary schools have completed their River of Hope journey which has involved them visiting their local river, seeing the impacts of climate change first hand and expressing their thoughts and ideas through spoken word and visual art. Working with poet Emmie Readman, the young people expressed what they felt the river was telling them. This was followed by immersive workshops with artist Shona Watt.

The final works were printed onto flags and showcased at the Tamar Festival in Calstock. A film has been created by Fotonow to show the whole story using the poetry of the young people as the soundtrack.
