Joe’s artistic practice is based in participation and inclusion, extending from German artist Joseph Beuys’s social sculpture and his theory on building the social organism, where “every (hu)man is an artist”. The term "social sculpture” describes the way art can transform society. Art isn’t merely for institutionalized curated work, but rather, it is everywhere and everyone is making it. Joe believes that art should mobilize people into seeing that we are all constantly shaping society and the environment with our words, actions, thoughts and objects we create; society as a whole is one great big masterpiece that each person could contribute to individually.
