Blue Nile Cartoon
This is a cartoon about me and the Blue Nile, a river that starts in the highlands of Ethiopia then curves round into Sudan then Egypt, becoming the Nile where the Blue and White Nile join in Khartoum. I didn’t know any of this before moving to Ethiopia in 2009. I only knew the Nile was the longest river in the world and had songs and films made about it.
I first visited Ethiopia for work, but liked it so much I stayed. A few years later I started working for British Council Ethiopia on the Totally Thames art education project Rivers of the World; supporting students to make artwork about rivers, starting with the Blue Nile. This is a cartoon about that journey, from my first visit to the Blue Nile to being in the classroom making huge amazing artwork about it.
